Chrome browser use with DCU Java applications

The Chrome browser no longer natively supports Java which is a requirement to run DCU applications such as ITS, Core, Discoverer, Digitary, VPN. We are investigating products which may permit you to continue using Chrome as your main browser & support all DCU applications.


Internet Explorer 

Please use Internet Explorer to run applications which require the use of Java until further notice.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause for you at this busy time of year.

Network Drive Access - Scheduled Maintenance Friday 11th, 6pm-10pm

Network Drive Access - Scheduled Maintenance

Due to essential IT infrastructure updates, in advance of start of semester, there will a scheduled maintenance window (outside core hours) for network drive access.


Friday 6pm-10pm, September 11th.


All personal and shared network drives will be unavailable for staff and students such as: H, L, V etc.
Other Services
This outage will not impact on other services. In particular Google Drive access will function as normal.
Please contact us if you have any concerns in relation to this maintenance window.

DCU staff email list change

Changes to DCU staff e-mail list

Members of the DCU Staff email list ( can now control receipt of emails posted to it

This list has been copied and moved to a Google Group, which means the following for DCU Staff:

  1. You can now "opt out" of receiving mail as a member of the list (no email).
  2. You can configure receipt and other settings via the "Groups" icon when logged into your DCU email.
  3. Membership of this list = all DCU staff email addresses + all GENERIC (e.g. addresses
  4. ISS recommends that you select "no email" for all generic email addresses.
  5. Generic accounts can still post email to the list.

This video quickly explains how to do this in a couple of mouse clicks!

DCU Apps News - Google Hangouts


ISS are delighted to inform you that you will now have access to Google Hangouts from Wednesday 10th June as part of the DCU Apps suite of tools. 
Similar to Skype, GoToMeeting and Webex, Google Hangouts is a web-based video communication tool that allows you to send text messages in group discussions and organise a video call with up to 15 other hangout users.
Google Hangouts will replace Google Talk/Chats that you currently have access to and it gives you more ways to talk with video and voice calls on your mobile device or computer for free.

Student Record System - fees payment option

Student Fees Payment Issue

A small number of students have reported that they are experiencing issues seeing the fees payment option on the student record system : 
The issue for some users when trying to log in is due to the web browser on the computer keeping an older connection.
This issue can be resolved by clearing the web browser cache on your computer. Please Note: You must fully shut down all web browsers after clearing the cahce.
For instructions on how to clear the browser cache, please watch the following video or go to the second link and follow the instructions for the web browser you are using.
If you are still experiencing issues, please try the following;
  • Make sure you have fully closed all web browsers
  • Try a different browser such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari etc.
  • Try Incognito mode in your web browser to test without the cache. For instructions on how to activate Incognito mode in your browser, please go to the following link
  • Fully power off your computer and start it again

Unlimited File Storage Now Available - Yes Unlimited!

ISS are delighted to inform you that you now have access to unlimited storage as part of the DCU Apps suite of tools. Google Drive Info
You can now store unlimited files and folders within Drive which is a component of your DCU Apps e-mail service. If you are already using DCU Apps Drive, the availability of unlimited storage is automatic.
